Is Practice Pro ‘Meaningful Use’?certified?
We’ve been getting this question a lot lately, but the short answer is no, we’re not?CCHIT-certified.
You may be wondering why. You see, the term ?eligible professionals? refers to critical access hospitals and physicians. It does not apply to?physical therapists, occupational therapists, or speech-language pathologists. There are currently no requirements nor incentives for Physical therapy organizations to adopt an EHR. This means that EHRs?specifically designed for the rehab therapy industry like Practice Pro do not need to be certified?because they?re not servicing ?eligible professionals.?
Since Practice Pro is an EMR developed specifically and exclusively for rehab therapists, we do not need to be Meaningful Use certified because you simply don?t need a system that is. (Yet). If something were to change and the federal government revised the HITECH Act so that rehab therapists are considered eligible professionals, we’ll certainly become certified. We’ll also keep a close eye for?these changes so we can be ahead of the curve if this occurs.
