One of only four rehab EMR vendors to be granted CMS Qualified Registry status

SKILLMAN, NJ February 4, 2019 Practice Pro, a leading developer of therapy practice management software designed specifically for the needs of outpatient therapy providers, today announced that it has been named by The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) as a Registry for the 2019 Quality Payment Program year.

The Practice Pro Registry, one of only four rehab EMR vendors to be granted CMS Qualified Registry status, can now collect and report quality measure data on behalf of physical therapist (PT) and occupational therapists (OT) under the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) for 2019. PT and OT practices can participate in MIPS directly through the Practice Pro cloud-based EMR module as a part of the practices normal clinical documentation process.

This is an important designation for Practice Pro, further reinforcing our commitment to rehab therapy customers as they look to tackle reimbursement challenges in todays value-based care environment, said Sanjay Patel, Founder and CEO, Practice Pro. As a CMS qualified registry, physical and occupational therapy practices can rest assured Practice Pro is providing them with both a compliant registry needed to avoid payment penalties as well as an integrated EMR platform that helps practices streamline patient intake, eliminate paper statements, measure advanced KPIs, and increase revenue.

The Quality Payment Program is the United States Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) take on further transitioning the healthcare industry from fee-for-service to value-based care. The 2017 final rule implemented the QPP as part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). Clinicians have two tracks MIPS or Advanced Alternative Payment Models (Advanced APMs) to choose from in the QPP based on their practice size, specialty, location, or patient population. As of January 2019, PTs providing services under Medicare Part B who meet qualifying criteria must participate in one of the two programs.
