Raintree Alternatives: Physical Therapy EMR Options for PT, OT & SLP Practices (2026)

A criteria-first comparison of the rehab therapy platforms practices most often evaluate alongside Raintree — WebPT, Prompt, SPRY, Athelas, Practice Pro and others — with where each may fit, what to ask in a demo, and what to plan before you switch.

Written by the Practice Pro Product & Practice Operations Team — we build EMR, practice management and RCM software used by outpatient PT, OT, and SLP clinics across the USA.
Disclosure: Practice Pro is one of the platforms discussed in this guide, so we have a commercial interest. To keep the comparison useful, every description of another vendor is drawn from that vendor's own website or a named third-party source, we don't rank vendors or name a winner, and we don't publish competitor pricing we can't verify. Where we describe Practice Pro, those are our product claims — test them in a demo the same way you'd test anyone else's.

How this guide was built: we reviewed each vendor's official product pages, comparison pages and press releases in September 2026, cross-checked them against third-party software directories, and organized the comparison around the operational criteria PT, OT, and SLP practices use when they replace an EMR. Features, packaging and pricing change frequently — confirm everything with the vendor before you sign. Full methodology is in How we compare Raintree alternatives.

Raintree Alternatives — Quick Answer

  • Rehab-specific platforms practices commonly evaluate alongside Raintree include WebPT, Prompt Health, SPRY, Athelas (Commure), and Practice Pro, with Net Health, Clinicient, TheraOffice, PtEverywhere, Empower EMR, and others appearing on many shortlists.
  • Raintree describes itself as built for enterprise and large therapy organizations, and says smaller single clinics may find a lighter platform fits better — so practice size and complexity are the first filter.
  • Compare on workflow fit: PT/OT/SLP documentation, billing model (in-house, outsourced RCM, or both), AI documentation you can review and edit, reporting, integrations, implementation support, and total cost of ownership.
  • Most vendors in this group quote pricing by practice rather than publishing a full price list, so build a like-for-like quote comparison instead of relying on online estimates.
  • No single platform is "best" for every practice. The right choice is the one that fits your disciplines, payer mix, locations, and team — proven in a demo using your own real workflows.

Replacing an EMR is rarely about one missing feature. It's usually a slow build-up: a renewal date on the calendar, a billing team working around the system instead of in it, therapists charting after hours, or a practice that has grown into — or out of — the platform it chose years ago. If Raintree is your current system or one of the names on your shortlist, this guide lays out the realistic alternatives, what each vendor says it does, and the questions that separate a good demo from a good decision.

What Is a Raintree Alternative?

A Raintree alternative is any EMR and practice management platform built for outpatient rehab therapy that could replace Raintree as a practice's system of record for documentation, scheduling, billing, and reporting. The most commonly compared options include WebPT, Prompt Health, SPRY, Athelas, and Practice Pro, and the right one depends on practice size, disciplines, billing model, and growth plans.

Two groups tend to search for Raintree alternatives. The first is practices already running Raintree that are approaching a contract renewal or re-evaluating fit. The second is practices shopping for a new rehab EMR that see Raintree on nearly every shortlist and want to understand what else is out there. The questions overlap, but the stakes differ: a current Raintree practice has migration, A/R run-out and retraining to plan for, while a first-time buyer is mostly choosing on fit.

Either way, a true alternative has to cover the same core jobs. That means rehab-specific documentation (evaluations, daily notes, progress reports, plan-of-care tracking), scheduling built around therapists and rooms, therapy billing that understands timed codes and payer rules, and reporting a practice owner can actually run the business on. Point tools — a standalone AI scribe, a home exercise app, a billing service — can complement an EMR, but they don't replace one.

What Is Raintree?

Raintree Systems is a rehab therapy EMR and practice management platform for physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and pediatric therapy organizations. It positions itself for enterprise and large multi-location providers, with native billing and RCM, patient engagement (Touchpoints), business intelligence, and AI applied across documentation, billing, and operations.

Raintree's own materials describe a company with more than 40 years in rehab therapy, and state that it manages more than 50 million patient visits a year across 8,500+ active locations, with seven of the ten largest rehab practices in the country on the platform. Raintree also states that it is the only ONC-certified EHR in rehab therapy. If federal health IT certification matters to your organization, you can check any vendor's status yourself in the ONC's public Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL) rather than relying on marketing pages — including ours.

What's most useful for buyers is Raintree's own description of fit. In a July 2026 buyer's guide, the company says it is purpose-built for enterprise and large therapy providers, and that a single small clinic prioritizing the fastest setup, lowest configuration burden, and documentation speed may find a lighter-weight platform fits more naturally. That candor gives you a practical starting point: the bigger and more complex your operation, the more directly you're comparing like with like; the smaller and simpler, the more the comparison becomes about ease of use and time to value.

Why PT, OT & SLP Practices Look for Raintree Alternatives

Practices typically evaluate Raintree alternatives when their size or complexity no longer matches the platform, when a contract renewal prompts a market check, or when priorities shift toward AI documentation, a different billing model, faster implementation, or a simpler day-to-day experience for clinicians and front-desk staff.

None of these reasons means a platform is "bad." They're signs that the fit has changed. The most common triggers we hear from practices evaluating any enterprise-grade EMR, Raintree included:

  • Size mismatch in either direction. A 3-clinic practice may not need — or want to staff — enterprise configuration. A fast-growing group may need more configurability than a lightweight tool offers.
  • Contract renewal. A renewal is the natural moment to benchmark cost, contract terms, and roadmap against the market.
  • Billing model changes. Some practices want to bring billing in-house; others want to outsource RCM entirely. The EMR has to support whichever model you're moving to.
  • AI documentation expectations. Ambient scribing and AI-drafted notes have become a common evaluation criterion in 2026. Practices want to know how AI is built in, how clinicians review drafts, and how it handles rehab-specific documentation.
  • Implementation bandwidth. Smaller teams may prefer a vendor-led implementation with less internal configuration work.
  • Discipline mix. Adding OT, SLP, or pediatrics raises the bar for discipline-specific templates, codes, and outcome measures in one system.
  • Mergers and acquisitions. When practices combine, one EMR usually has to win — which forces a structured comparison.

There are also good reasons to stay. If your organization depends on deep configurability across many states and specialties, has invested heavily in Raintree reporting, or values ONC certification for referral-network or value-based-care requirements, switching carries real cost. A disciplined evaluation should include "stay and optimize" as one of the options on the table.

What to Look for in a Raintree Alternative

The most important criteria are rehab-specific documentation for every discipline you treat, billing and RCM that match your chosen billing model, AI documentation your clinicians can review and control, scheduling and patient engagement, reporting you can trust, integrations, implementation and migration support, and a total cost of ownership you can predict.

Feature checklists make every platform look similar. What separates them is how well each workflow holds up under your conditions. Use the table below to turn each criterion into a demo test.

CriterionWhy it mattersWhat to test in the demo
PT, OT & SLP documentationDiscipline-specific evals, goals, and outcome measures keep notes defensible and reduce customization work.Have an OT and an SLP each complete an eval and a daily note — not only a PT.
Compliance supportPlan-of-care certification, progress-report cadence, timed-code minutes, and threshold tracking drive audit risk.Ask how the system flags a missing progress report or a unit count the minutes don't support.
AI documentationAI drafting can reduce charting time, but only if clinicians can review, edit, and sign with confidence.Watch an AI draft created from a real visit, then edited and signed. Ask where the data is processed and stored.
Billing & RCMClaim scrubbing, payer rules, ERA posting, and denial workflows determine cash flow.Follow one claim from signed note to posted payment, including a denial and appeal.
Scheduling & front officeTherapist/room scheduling, waitlists, reminders, intake, and eligibility checks reduce gaps and no-shows.Book a recurring plan of care across two locations and fill a same-day cancellation.
Patient engagementPortals, HEP, messaging, and self check-in affect retention and front-desk workload.Complete intake and check-in as a patient on a phone.
Reporting & analyticsOwners need visit, productivity, A/R, and payer data that reconciles across clinical and billing.Ask for a report on cancellations by provider and A/R by payer — and see how long it takes.
IntegrationsClearinghouse, fax, outcomes, HEP, payments, and referral sources should connect without re-keying.List your current integrations and confirm each one by name.
Implementation & migrationData migration, training, and go-live support determine how disruptive a switch is.Ask what data migrates (demographics, notes, balances), in what format, and who owns cleanup.
SupportClinical, billing, and EDI questions need people who understand rehab.Ask how support is staffed, response targets, and whether you get named contacts.
ScalabilityAdding clinics, disciplines, or states shouldn't require re-platforming.Ask how permissions, templates, and reporting work across locations.

How We Compare Raintree Alternatives

We compare platforms by the practice requirements they appear designed to serve, using each vendor's own published information, rather than by scoring or ranking them. Software selection depends on practice size, specialties, documentation workflow, scheduling, billing and RCM, reporting, integrations, AI capabilities, compliance needs, implementation, support, scalability, and total cost of ownership.

Here's exactly what we did and didn't do:

  • Sources: vendor product pages, comparison pages, and press releases, checked in September 2026. Where we reference a third party (a software directory or trade publication), we name it.
  • Attribution: claims like "only," "leading," or specific performance figures are presented as the vendor's own statements, not as verified facts.
  • No rankings or scores: a numbered "top 10" implies a precision nobody outside your practice has. Instead, each profile describes target users, notable capabilities, and what to verify.
  • No unverifiable pricing: third-party estimates for the same vendor vary widely, and most vendors in this group quote by practice. We explain the pricing model where the vendor publishes it and otherwise say "quote-based."
  • No invented drawbacks: instead of "cons," each profile lists considerations — questions any buyer should confirm for their own situation.
  • Our own product: Practice Pro is included because buyers ask about it, it's labeled as our product, and it's held to the same "verify in a demo" standard.

Which platforms made the list: rehab-focused EMR and practice management platforms that repeatedly appear alongside Raintree in vendor comparison pages and third-party software directories in 2026. We also considered "Tride," a name that sometimes surfaces in these searches, but could not verify a current rehab EMR product under that name, so it isn't profiled.

Raintree Alternatives: Platform-by-Platform Overview

Each profile below covers what the platform is, who it's aimed at, capabilities the vendor highlights, and considerations to confirm. Considerations are not criticisms — they're the questions we'd ask of any vendor, including ourselves.

WebPT

Rehab therapy practice management platform · Phoenix, AZ · webpt.com

WebPT describes itself as an all-in-one practice management platform built specifically for rehab therapists. Its product lineup covers documentation and outcomes, billing and payments, front-office tools (digital intake, scheduling, electronic benefits verification, referral management), marketing and reputation tools, and practice analytics. The company also offers full-service RCM and lists Insight — the EMR and billing product that came with its acquisition of Clinicient — as part of its portfolio.

On AI, WebPT's Rehab + AI tools include voice-to-text scribing, auto-generated notes, coding guidance, and a HIPAA-compliant chatbot. WebPT says it connects with 60+ systems, offers 200+ built-in standardized tests and outcome measures, and provides a MIPS QCDR. In January 2026, WebPT sold its Keet Health outcomes business to Net Health, with Net Health's Limber named the preferred outcomes and RTM solution for WebPT and Clinicient customers.

Target usersPT, OT, and SLP practices from startups and small businesses to multi-location, hospital outpatient, and enterprise organizations, per WebPT's own practice-type pages.
Considerations to confirmWhich capabilities are in the core subscription versus separate products; how Insight and the core WebPT EMR differ for your size; how outcomes and RTM now work through Limber.

Prompt Health (Prompt EMR)

AI-powered rehab EMR and clinic operations platform · prompthealth.com

Prompt Health describes its platform as a cloud-based, AI-powered EMR and practice management system built specifically for outpatient rehab therapy — PT, OT, speech, pediatric therapy, and chiropractic. The core EMR covers documentation, scheduling, billing, and practice management. Enhancements include Plus (patient relationship automations), Sidekick (AI scribing and real-time CPT feedback, formerly PredictionHealth), Engage (patient app and RTM, formerly PT Wired), Insight (compliance and coding visibility), Compensation (formerly OnusOne), and a virtual check-in kiosk.

Prompt says billing is built into the platform with a two-way clearinghouse connection, payer rules, and a Medicare threshold dashboard, and that clinics can bill in-house, keep an outside billing provider, or use Prompt's RCM service. Its practice-type pages range from small and startup clinics to multi-clinic, enterprise, and university programs.

Target usersIndependent practices through multi-clinic and enterprise rehab groups, including practices that combine rehab and chiropractic.
Considerations to confirmWhich modules are core versus add-on for your plan; how pricing scales with providers or visits; how AI features are reviewed and approved by clinicians.

SPRY

AI-native rehab EMR and RCM platform · sprypt.com

SPRY describes its platform as bringing together EMR, RCM, scheduling, analytics, and AI tools in one system for PT, OT, speech, and chiropractic clinics. Its named AI tools include AI Scribe, which the company says turns therapist–patient conversations into structured SOAP notes and CPT tags; AI Fax; and a Scheduling Agent. SPRY also offers an optional RCM service alongside its EMR subscription.

SPRY is one of the few vendors in this group that publishes starting prices on its website. Because figures and plan inclusions appear on several of its pages, confirm the current price and exactly what's included for your provider count before comparing.

Target usersStartup through multi-specialty outpatient rehab clinics, per SPRY's own positioning.
Considerations to confirmCurrent plan pricing and inclusions; how the RCM service is priced and scoped; the implementation plan for your location count.

Athelas (Commure)

AI-enabled EHR and revenue cycle management · athelas.com

Athelas, powered by healthcare software company Commure, pairs AI-driven revenue cycle management with an EHR. Its Athelas Air EHR is described by the company as combining ambient scribing, AI agents, and RCM automation, and is marketed to both large physical therapy groups and smaller practices. Athelas also sells RCM services more broadly across healthcare, not only in rehab.

Target usersPT practices and groups that want AI documentation and outsourced, automation-heavy RCM from one partner.
Considerations to confirmHow the EHR handles rehab-specific rules (timed codes, plan-of-care certification, progress-report cadence, therapy thresholds); support for OT and SLP if you treat them; how RCM fees are structured.

Net Health

Software for rehab therapy and post-acute care · nethealth.com

Net Health describes itself as a provider of specialized software for rehab therapy and post-acute care, and says it serves more than 34,000 healthcare organizations. In 2025 it acquired Limber Health, and in January 2026 it acquired Keet Health from WebPT, building Limber into an outcomes, home exercise, and remote therapeutic monitoring platform. Practices with hospital outpatient, post-acute, or wound care exposure are the most likely to evaluate Net Health's broader portfolio.

Target usersRehab and post-acute organizations, including those spanning multiple care settings.
Considerations to confirmWhich Net Health product fits outpatient private practice specifically; how Limber integrates with the EMR you choose.

Practice Pro (our product)

EMR, practice management & RCM for PT, OT, SLP and pediatric therapy · ptpracticepro.com

Practice Pro is an all-in-one platform that combines a rehab-specific EMR, clinical documentation, scheduling, referral management, billing and RCM, reporting, and patient engagement for PT, OT, SLP, and pediatric therapy practices. It is covered in more detail in Where Practice Pro fits below.

Target usersOutpatient therapy practices from single clinics to multi-location groups, especially multi-disciplinary practices.
Considerations to confirmHow pricing is scoped for your practice (Practice Pro quotes per practice); the migration plan from your current system; the AI review workflow with your clinicians.

Raintree vs WebPT

Raintree and WebPT are both rehab-specific platforms covering PT, OT, and SLP. Raintree emphasizes enterprise configurability, native billing, and ONC certification for large organizations, while WebPT emphasizes a broad product ecosystem — EMR, billing, RCM services, front-office, marketing, and 60+ integrations — spanning small practices to enterprise.

This is one of the most common head-to-head comparisons, and the honest framing is that the two overlap heavily in the mid-market and differ most at the edges. Third-party directory SelectHub, for example, frames WebPT as a fit for outpatient PT clinics that want published pricing, and Raintree for larger or multi-specialty groups that need one platform across PT, OT, and speech.

Raintree vs Prompt

Raintree positions itself for enterprise complexity, native billing, and configurability at scale. Prompt Health positions itself as a modern, AI-powered, all-in-one rehab platform for practices from startups to enterprise groups, with built-in billing, patient engagement automation, and optional RCM services. Both vendors publish comparison pages against each other.

This is the rare comparison where both vendors have published their side. Raintree's July 2026 guide acknowledges Prompt's modern interface, well-reviewed support, and fast implementation, while arguing its own strengths in billing depth, compliance, and scale. Prompt's comparison page emphasizes AI-assisted intake and evaluation drafts, built-in billing, and pricing it describes as predictable. Read both, note what each asks you to verify about the other, and use those questions in your demos.

Raintree vs SPRY

Raintree emphasizes enterprise configurability and a long track record with large rehab organizations. SPRY emphasizes an AI-native platform — AI Scribe, AI Fax, and a Scheduling Agent — with integrated billing, an optional RCM service, and published starting prices for outpatient PT, OT, speech, and chiropractic clinics.

For many practices, this comparison comes down to where they sit on the size-and-complexity curve and how central AI tooling is to the decision. SPRY publishes a large volume of comparison content, so you'll likely encounter its framing early in research; as with any vendor-authored comparison, treat performance claims as the vendor's own and ask for references at a practice like yours.

Raintree vs Athelas

Raintree is a rehab-specific EMR with native billing aimed at large therapy organizations. Athelas (Commure) is an AI-enabled EHR and RCM company whose Athelas Air EHR combines ambient scribing, AI agents, and RCM automation, and which serves physical therapy practices alongside other areas of healthcare.

The key question here is rehab depth versus RCM partnership. Raintree was built for therapy from the start. Athelas leads with revenue cycle expertise and AI automation and has been expanding in physical therapy. If you're comparing the two, test therapy-specific rules explicitly — 8-minute rule unit logic, plan-of-care certification tracking, progress-report cadence, and KX-threshold monitoring — and confirm OT and SLP support if you treat those disciplines.

Raintree vs Practice Pro

Both Raintree and Practice Pro are rehab-specific platforms for PT, OT, SLP, and pediatric therapy with integrated documentation, scheduling, billing, and RCM. Raintree focuses on enterprise and large therapy organizations. Practice Pro focuses on outpatient therapy practices from single clinics to multi-location groups, with AI Voice-to-SOAP documentation, AI fax-to-intake referral processing, and a billing automation engine built into one platform.

We'll be direct about the limits of this comparison: it's written by Practice Pro. Raintree's scale and ONC certification claim are real considerations for organizations that need them. Where Practice Pro aims to fit is practices that want multi-disciplinary rehab workflows and connected billing without heavy internal configuration, and that want the option to run billing in-house or hand it to a US-based RCM team.

What to Plan Before Switching from Raintree

Before switching from Raintree — or any EMR — confirm your contract terms and data-export rights, decide what data migrates and in what format, plan how you'll work down A/R in the old system, reset clearinghouse and payer connections, map open plans of care and certifications, train every role, and set a go-live date away from your busiest season.

Most switching pain comes from the business side, not the software. A few steps that save practices the most trouble:

  1. Read your current contract first. Note the renewal date, notice period, data-export provisions, and any fees for extracting records.
  2. Decide the migration scope. Demographics, insurance, and appointments usually move; historical clinical notes may migrate as structured data or as read-only documents. Get this in writing.
  3. Plan A/R run-out. Many practices keep the old system accessible for a period to work existing claims and balances while new claims flow through the new platform.
  4. Reset billing connections. Clearinghouse enrollment, ERA/EFT setup, and payer-specific rules take time — start early to avoid a cash-flow gap.
  5. Protect compliance in flight. Patients mid-episode have plans of care, certifications, and progress-report clocks running. Map them so nothing lapses during cutover. Our guide to therapy plan of care certification covers the rules to track.
  6. Train by role. Therapists, PTAs/COTAs, front desk, billers, and owners use different workflows. Train each on the tasks they actually do.
  7. Choose your go-live window. Avoid peak season and major payer changes. Implementation timelines vary widely with practice size and scope, so ask each vendor for a written plan with milestones.
  8. Set a baseline. Capture current metrics — days in A/R, denial rate, no-show rate, note completion time — so you can measure whether the switch worked.

Watch for: a go-live that coincides with plan-of-care recertifications for many patients, or with a large payer contract change. Either can create avoidable denials during the first weeks on a new system.

Planning a switch? Ask us for a sample migration and go-live plan for a practice your size — including how A/R run-out and in-flight plans of care are handled.

Where Practice Pro Fits in a Raintree Alternative Search

Practice Pro fits practices looking for a single rehab-specific platform that connects PT, OT, SLP, and pediatric documentation with scheduling, referral management, billing and RCM, reporting, and patient engagement — with AI built into documentation, referral intake, and billing, and the option to bill in-house or use Practice Pro's US-based RCM team.

Here's what Practice Pro includes today, described as product claims you can test:

  • Discipline-specific documentation: evaluation, daily, progress, and discharge templates for PT, OT (ADL assessments, sensory profiles), SLP (articulation, fluency, language, dysphagia), and pediatric therapy.
  • AI Voice-to-SOAP: drafts a SOAP note from the visit, suggests goals and ICD/CPT codes, and flags compliance issues before the clinician signs. Clinicians review and sign every note.
  • AI Fax-to-Intake: reads incoming referral faxes, creates or matches patient, case, and referral records, and queues outreach.
  • Billing automation: payer rules that flag visits with issues, charge-to-claim automation, ERA/EOB auto-posting, and denial and appeal tools — run in-house or through Practice Pro's US-based RCM services.
  • Scheduling and patient engagement: therapist and room scheduling across locations, SMS waitlist fill, telehealth, patient portal, digital intake, reminders, two-way messaging, online bill pay, kiosk check-in, home exercise programs, and remote therapeutic monitoring.
  • Reporting and KPIs: practice, productivity, and revenue reporting from the same system that holds the clinical and billing data.
  • Security: Practice Pro states it is HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2 Type II.

Where it may not be the right fit: organizations whose requirements center on ONC certification, or very large enterprises that need a vendor with references at their exact scale, should weigh those factors carefully — and ask us directly how we'd meet them.

Questions to Ask During an EMR Demo

The best demo questions make the vendor show a real workflow instead of describing it: complete an eval in each discipline you treat, follow a claim from note to payment, show how compliance gaps are flagged, show an AI draft being edited and signed, and produce a written, itemized quote for your exact practice.

  1. Can an OT and an SLP each complete an evaluation and daily note in front of us, using your standard templates?
  2. How does the system flag a missing progress report, an expiring plan-of-care certification, or units the documented minutes don't support?
  3. Show an AI-drafted note from a real visit. How does the clinician edit it, and what's logged when they sign?
  4. Where is audio or transcript data processed and stored, and how long is it retained?
  5. Walk one claim from signed note to posted payment — then show a denial and the appeal workflow.
  6. Can we bill in-house now and switch to your RCM service later (or the reverse) without changing systems?
  7. Which of our current integrations (clearinghouse, fax, HEP, outcomes, payments) do you support today, by name?
  8. What data migrates from our current EMR, in what format, and who is responsible for cleanup?
  9. What does implementation look like for a practice our size, with milestones and named contacts?
  10. How is support staffed for clinical, billing, and EDI questions, and what are the response targets?
  11. Can we speak with a reference practice similar to ours in size, disciplines, and payer mix?
  12. What's included in the quoted price, and what would cost extra as we grow — providers, locations, visits, messages, or modules?

For more on documentation compliance specifically, see our PT documentation compliance guide and the Medicare 8-minute rule guide — both are good references for testing how a platform handles timed codes and progress reports.

Evaluating EMR Software Before the APTA Private Practice Annual Conference 2026

The APTA Private Practice Annual Conference & Exhibition 2026 takes place November 11–14, 2026, at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. For practice owners comparing EMRs, the exhibition is a chance to see several vendors in one trip — and preparing a shortlist and demo scorecard in advance makes those conversations far more useful.

APTA Private Practice (often called PPS) runs the annual conference for physical therapists in business, and its programming centers on practice management, payment, and operations. If an EMR decision is on your 2027 roadmap, a little preparation turns a walk through the exhibit hall into real evaluation time:

  • Arrive with a shortlist. Narrow to three or four platforms using the criteria above so you're not repeating the same intro conversation at every booth.
  • Bring a scorecard. Use the buyer's checklist below and score each vendor the same way.
  • Bring real scenarios. A tricky case from your practice — a multi-discipline patient, a Medicare patient near the KX threshold, a denied claim — is a better test than any scripted demo.
  • Ask for follow-up demos with your team. A conference conversation is a first look. Book a full demo afterward with your billers and a clinician from each discipline.
  • Talk to other owners. Peer conversations about what switching was actually like are often more valuable than vendor pitches.

How Much Does Physical Therapy EMR Software Cost?

Physical therapy EMR pricing varies by vendor, pricing model, number of providers and locations, included modules, and whether you add RCM services. Most vendors in the Raintree-alternatives group quote pricing by practice, and some publish starting prices. Compare written, itemized quotes rather than online estimates.

Online estimates for the same vendor frequently disagree, sometimes by hundreds of dollars per provider per month, because they mix different plans, add-ons, and practice sizes. The pricing models you'll encounter include:

  • Per provider per month — the most common model for EMR subscriptions.
  • Per visit or volume-based — pricing that scales with visits, sometimes above a threshold.
  • Per practice or custom quote — common for multi-location and enterprise deals (Practice Pro uses per-practice quoting).
  • Percentage of collections — typical for outsourced RCM services, priced separately from the software.
  • Add-on modules — AI scribing, patient engagement, kiosks, HEP, or analytics may be included or priced separately.

To compare fairly, ask every vendor for the same thing: a written quote for your exact provider count, locations, and disciplines, listing implementation, migration, training, each add-on, any usage-based fees, and RCM fees if applicable. Then compare the first-year cost and the three-year cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

The rehab-specific platforms most often evaluated alongside Raintree include WebPT, Prompt Health, SPRY, Athelas, and Practice Pro, with Net Health, Clinicient, TheraOffice, PtEverywhere, and Empower EMR also appearing on many shortlists. The best choice depends on your practice size, disciplines, billing model, and growth plans, so compare them on your own workflows rather than on a general ranking.
Raintree itself says it is built for enterprise and large therapy providers, and that small single clinics may find a lighter platform fits better. Small practices usually prioritize ease of use, fast implementation, included features, and predictable pricing. Compare two or three rehab-specific platforms using a real workday — an eval, a few daily notes, and a claim — and choose the one your team finds easiest to run.
Yes. WebPT is a rehab therapy practice management platform covering PT, OT, and SLP, with documentation, billing, optional RCM services, front-office tools, marketing, analytics, and 60+ integrations. It serves practices from startups to enterprise organizations, so it can replace Raintree as a full system of record.
Yes. Prompt Health offers an AI-powered EMR and practice management platform for PT, OT, speech, pediatric therapy, and chiropractic, with built-in billing, patient engagement tools, and optional RCM services. Both Prompt and Raintree publish comparison pages about each other, which are worth reading side by side.
Yes. SPRY offers an AI-native EMR with integrated billing, scheduling, analytics, and an optional RCM service for PT, OT, speech, and chiropractic clinics. It is one of the few vendors in this group that publishes starting prices; confirm the current figures and inclusions on its pricing page.
Review your contract's renewal date, notice period, and data-export terms. Decide what data will migrate and in what format, plan how you'll work down existing A/R, reset clearinghouse and payer connections early, map patients with open plans of care and certifications, train each role on its own workflows, and choose a go-live date outside your busiest season.
A PT EMR should include rehab-specific evaluation, daily note, progress report, and discharge templates; plan-of-care and certification tracking; timed-code and unit support; scheduling; billing with claim scrubbing and payment posting; reporting; patient engagement tools such as reminders and intake; and integrations with your clearinghouse and other tools. AI documentation is increasingly expected, provided clinicians can review and sign every note.
An EMR (electronic medical record) holds the clinical record — evaluations, notes, plans of care, and outcomes. Practice management software runs the business side — scheduling, registration, billing, claims, and reporting. Most rehab platforms, including Raintree and its main alternatives, combine both so that documentation flows directly into billing.
Look for AI that drafts rehab-specific notes rather than generic medical narratives, lets clinicians edit before signing, supports coding and compliance checks, is built into the EMR rather than requiring copy-and-paste, and has clear policies on where audio and transcripts are processed and how long they are kept. The clinician should always remain responsible for the final note.
Yes. Several rehab platforms — including Raintree, WebPT, Prompt Health, SPRY, and Practice Pro — list PT, OT, and SLP support. The quality of discipline-specific templates, outcome measures, and billing rules varies, so have an OT and an SLP each complete real documentation during the demo.
Raintree positions itself for enterprise and large, multi-location therapy organizations, emphasizing native billing, configurability, business intelligence, and ONC certification. Alternatives such as WebPT, Prompt, SPRY, Athelas, and Practice Pro serve a wider range of practice sizes and differ in AI tooling, RCM options, and pricing models. The right comparison depends on your size and complexity.
Cost depends on the vendor's pricing model, your number of providers and locations, included modules, and whether you add RCM services. Most vendors quote by practice, and some publish starting prices. Ask each vendor for a written, itemized quote covering implementation, migration, add-ons, usage-based fees, and RCM, then compare first-year and three-year totals.
Ask the vendor to show, not tell: complete an eval in each discipline you treat, follow a claim from signed note to posted payment including a denial, show how compliance gaps are flagged, edit and sign an AI-drafted note, confirm your integrations by name, explain the migration scope, and provide an itemized quote and a reference practice similar to yours.
Implementation time depends on practice size, number of locations, migration scope, billing setup, and training needs. Single-clinic implementations are generally shorter than multi-location enterprise rollouts. Ask each vendor for a written implementation plan with milestones for a practice like yours, and allow extra time for clearinghouse and payer enrollment.
Evaluate workflow fit for every discipline, billing and RCM support, compliance tooling, AI documentation controls, reporting, integrations, implementation and migration support, vendor support, scalability, and total cost of ownership. Also compare the cost and risk of switching against optimizing your current system — sometimes staying and reconfiguring is the better decision.
Yes. Practice Pro is an EMR, practice management, and RCM platform for PT, OT, SLP, and pediatric therapy practices, with AI Voice-to-SOAP documentation, AI fax-to-intake referral processing, billing automation, scheduling, reporting, and patient engagement in one system. Practice Pro is our product; we recommend testing it with your own workflows alongside other options.
